I'm intrigued as to how you managed to question the relationship between money and social worth in one sentence and then arrive at a conclusion in the next without explaining anything.

What exactly did you need explained? If a doctor saves thousands of lives and Blink 182 make people happy with music, I don't think anyone in their right mind is going to say that Blink 182 are of more value to society than a doctor.

It's obviously not a fact, but I made my case and stated my opinion.

Quote
Guys, keep in mind everything Oliver says is simply his opinion and nothing more. He can never objectively, conclusively prove that blink don't deserve their fortunes (as this argument is entirely subjective), he can only state the opinion that he doesn't believe they do. When he says 'in terms of their worth in society, no they really don't [deserve millions]' that's not an objective statement, it's just Oliver forcing his unpopular, often-contested opinions and ideology on us. That's how he views society, and he has a different imagining on how money should be valued and earned (which again is just his opinion which he's entirely entitled to.) I just dislike how you, Oliver, try to mask your personal feelings and opinions as objective truths and then, for a lack of a better term, 'shred' everyone up when they try to argue with you. I'm not trying to get into anything here with you but take a step back and realize that you're never going to change our minds.

Of course it's opinion. I figure going into the debate that people know the difference between a fact and an opinion. If there is something that I have tried to pass off as fact that is opinion, people are free to challenge me on it. I do tend to lay out facts and give my opinion on it.

Otherwise you have summed up the situation pretty well.

Maybe you should throw a "in my opinion" in there once in a while, because you posts read like a textbook sometimes to be honest.
Hey "Mr. Active" - you might want to double your calorie intake moron.

I was going to write a drawn out post about all the ways Oliver's perception of society is flawed, but fuck it, he's almost 30, if he hasn't learned by now, he's never going to learn.

Life isn't fair. It's not about deserving shit, it's about having the balls to get up and taking what you think you deserve. You aren't going to do that by bitching about what other people have.

I understand it.

But that doesn't make it right.

So why do people here try to justify something that is wrong? That is all I take issue with.

It's wrong. If people figured that out instead of having their heads up Blink 182's ass, then this debate would be over.
"We told [TOM] if we were going to record the album separately, in different studios, our band was ceasing to be a BAND. The magic in the studio is created when the three of us are there TOGETHER, working on parts, discussing, sometimes arguing, all pushing the album forward. Trying to frankenstein a cd together by mailing each other pro tools files to work on in our own private studios was ridiculous. It would lessen the entire album. It would be a terrible cd"...............Mark Hoppus.

oliver, if you pay a ticket to see blink 182 perform live, and if you buy all their albums, then YOU are (along with thousands of other ppl) the reason why they make a lot of money

because you like them, and thats why you are prepared to pay a lot of money for them

if everybody really liked my doctor in my town, and everybody wanted to go to him, everybody would pay more to be able to be treated by him and so he would earn much more money

but, there are a lot of doctors, and ppl are indifferent what doctors they chose

but, theres only one blink 182, and a lot of ppl want to see that one blink 182

if nobody wanted to see that one blink 182, blink wouldnt earn much money

its just how fuckin economics work man
if you want to change that, go to university, go to politics, change the law

and make blink earn less
Fate fell short this time

I know. That's good.

It's nothing personal on this end either.

If you hadnt started talking about money then the debate wouldnt have started.

If people are going to challenge me on my views I am going to defend them.

If people are going to say things I HIGHLY disagree with, I am going to call them on it.

But people only challenge your views when you bring the issue of blink having too much money up, which was not needed in this thread.

This thread was about money from the jump. Read the article posted. I made a very obscure comment and people take issue with it and they don't even know why.

I am done. I might make a video reply later just to finally put it to rest if I am bored.

No need, we get it, you're communist. Someone lock this topic.

HAHA! So ridiculous.

I am a bigtime free market capitalist. The problem here is that people cannot refute what I say so they try and come up with all these "work around" arguments that have nothing to do with any of my initial points.
