The John Mayer Appreciation Topic
« on: September 06, 2010, 12:21:55 AM »
I know he gets a lot of hate, and I understand why, but you have to be blind not to see how talented this man is. His guitar playing and songwriting is beyond incredible. Take this video for example

You can tell when he plays, he really plays. It's just him and the guitar on that stage and he plays the hell out of it. The amount of emotion he puts behind his guitar playing is unbelievable. He's definitely this generations Eric Clapton, no doubt about that. Modern day blues legend.

I know there HAS to be other people on this board that really dig John Mayer or respect the mans musicianship.

I really just don't like his music that much. It's like okay at best and is kind of boring. But I do respect his musicianship.

Yeah it took me a while to really get into him. But once I did, his CDs don't do his live performances justice.

Thats probably one of my favorite songs by him, the guitar riff is so sick. The part after he sings "I am driving up 85 in the kind of morning that lasts all after noon" is so good. It's so hard to play on guitar too, granted I'm not the best guitarist...nor am I close to being decent lmao

He is one of my favorite musicians around.

such nice playing he really has the best touch out there in current guitarists.

and if anyone thinks John Mayer has no talent needs to watch this

His concert was last night here, so sad I didn't go.

You gotta go, you got to go! Sometimes there's dead arabs under you, but what can you do?

i like John Mayer, i kinda dont like him since i went to his show and saw that 95% of the crowd just went to get high or drunk and treated the show like it was a guy playing at a coffee shop. but none the less Where The Light Is is such an amazing live album. definitely check out "I Don't Need No Doctor"

Check him out for sure, especially Continuum. If he released another album like Continuum, I'd be down for that cause there isn't enough blues in todays mainstream music.
