Seriously: Nightmare, by Avenged Sevenfold.
« on: September 06, 2010, 02:31:07 PM »
I never thought I would say this: good album. Very good, in mi opinion. I used to (literally) hate this band. Then I listened City Of Evil and A Little Piece Of Heaven, plus some other songs. I was expecting about Nightmare. And I'm surprised

Here's a nice amount of songs: Nightmare, Welcome To The Family, Danger Line, God Hates Us, Buried Alive (the last section is great), Save Me, Fiction and Lost It All (bonus).

Now you can piss on me.

Remember when they were so trying to fit into the hot topic mall-emo scene?

Yeah, I remember like it was yesterday. That's why I said that literally used to hate them, haha. Also, the first screaming albums don't fit on my ears. I don't like the first ones, but since 'City Of Evil' (or how to be Metallica and Iron Miden influenced), I think I can like them. Also, I think that theis 2007 album is not as bad as some fans say, and in particular 'A Little Piece Of Heaven' is awesome. Really good tell-tale song.

not a bad band all around, but i think all the elements separately arent that great. like the singers voice is wierd imo, the guitar players are kinda gimmicky etc.

I'm not suprised. Hot Topic now stocks Justin Bieber and Ke$ha products too. It's not really quite the same store anymore. Sure it's still has all the terrible Rise/Victory/Fearless record bands that now dominate 14 year olds. But I just thought it was kind of cute how they jumped from bandwagon to bandwagon.

How long have you worked there and is it soul crushing?

about half a year now. it's not soul crushing at all because my co-workers and i don't listen to any of the music distributed there. we all have really underground/indie tastes. so every day it's just awesome discussions about vinyl and recommendations of instrumental bands and other interesting music that are really cool to get into.

i mean obviously the customers are the total opposite and stock up on their Attack Attack and Black Veil Brides bullshit. and in defense of the store, the employees do not choose what gets sent in to sell. we never know what we are going to get or when we are going to get it. so if we get Justin Bieber shirts shipped in, then we have to put them out and sell them. i mean you can't really blame the business for carrying items that sell a shit ton. as much as we'd all like to carry the merchandise of actual good and talented bands, the store would make no money and we wouldn't be able to have jobs there.

I shudder to think how much juggalo paraphanelia you sell.

I understand how the commerce works, but I applied to work at my local one and had second thoughts about actually working there. Like being subjected to shitty bands (they do play them in the store, with good stuff like Rancid, Thursday, etc) and having to deal with scene kids all day could get hard. But then again, it's probably better than working at Cracker Barrel. I only shop there for vinyl and curiousity of what's being sold to 14 year olds this day and age.

I'd be such an elitist asshole if I worked at Hot Topic.

I'd wear the gayest twilight shirts I could find. Might as well embrace the terrible.

How to mess an intro:

It's really rare to see Synister Gates fucking up on guitar.

One of my absolute favourite bands. Only band I've got all their albums on vinyl (well, except BCR, lol). So excited to see them again in November, though it'll be weird with Mike Portnoy playing instead of The Rev. :(

Haha, Ghost, it is pretty rare for Syn to fuck up. Remember he mentioned on one of their DVDs that he was going for one of the risers during a solo and he slipped on stage. Think he recovered pretty well.

I wish I could just bust out a guitar solo every time I fell in public. Itd be an instant self redeemer. But I really didnt notice him messing up in the first video
